Director of Business Development
Location: New York, NY | Hybrid
Our client is an architecture and engineering firm looking for an ambitious Director of Business Development to join our rapidly growing team. This role will work closely with leadership, focusing on supporting business development efforts and developing market strategies to drive continued growth in key sectors, including architectural renovations and large-scale restoration projects.
Responsibilities
Business Development
o Identify strategic opportunities with large property/building owners, government entities, and institutional clients through multiple channels, including RFP platforms, LinkedIn, targeted prospect lists, and industry-specific sources.
o Cultivate and maintain a pipeline of potential clients and projects, collaborating closely with partners and business development stakeholders to ensure alignment and growth.
o Lead accountability initiatives to drive business decisions by providing key BD stakeholders with reports on KPIs, sales performance metrics, revenue targets, lead conversion rates, etc.
o Partner with leadership to refine and evolve the firm’s business development strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while targeting market segments.
o Develop and present proposals, effectively communicating the firm's value proposition to prospective clients, and continuously refine the go-to-market strategy based on findings.
o Represent us at industry events, conferences, and networking functions, collaborating with the Director of Marketing and our Partners to enhance visibility and build relationships with key industry influencers and stakeholders.
Outreach and Relationship Management
o Conduct needs assessments for prospective clients and identify sell-through opportunities with existing clients.
o Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to design and execute targeted business development campaigns, including email marketing, social media initiatives, and content creation, to drive engagement and lead generation.
o Expand services within existing client base.
o Coordinate with Marketing to have visually compelling collateral tailored to specific client needs, including RFP responses, brochures, and case studies, to effectively showcase our capabilities and value proposition.
o Lead market research and competitive analysis to support business development efforts maintaining an awareness of market trends, competitor activity, and industry shifts to drive continuous sales evolution.
o Contribute to PR and branding initiatives, strengthening our visibility and reputation within the design and restoration sectors.
Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in business development or sales
• Strong understanding of the NYC Property Management or Real Estate Development Market
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in CRM systems (Pipedrive or Salesforce), marketing analytics, and design tools (InDesign, Photoshop).
• A proactive, entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Experience working on government or large institutional projects is a plus.
